R&B group Boyz II Men earned the golden mask trophy on The Masked Singer last night, winning the show’s 12th season. The trio performed as the Buffaloes in cowboy-themed buffalo costumes and were eventually crowned by the judging panel of Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Rita Ora, and Robin Thicke.
During the finale episode, the Buffaloes, a.k.a. Boyz II Men, performed Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and an acapella version of Sam Smith‘s “Too Good at Goodbyes.” The group were up against the Wasp, who turned out to be singer Mario. Host Nick Cannon noted that the Buffaloes were the first group to win the show.
Boyz II Men, comprised of Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanyá Morris, released their most recent LP, Under the Streetlight, in 2017. They’ve continued performing in the years since and have appeared on various TV shows, including Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Barmageddon. Last year, they performed as part of PBS’s annual Fourth of July celebration alongside Belinda Carlisle, Babyface, and Chicago.

Nathan Morris told TV Insider that he enjoyed the win, noting, “Honestly, I’m happy. I like this. I look at this as an MTV award for us. We ain’t never getting none of them. This one is, I like this. I think it’s sweet.”
Wanyá Morris added of being on the show, “We all had hesitations. In fact, when we found out we were doing it, we actually were like, okay, so they’re going to know who we are. So we’re going to have to, first of all, change our voices. We’re also going to have to pick songs that they wouldn’t think that we would sing, and we really don’t want to do it. So hopefully they’ll find out who and kick us off early.”
