Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden joined Niall Horan on stage in Manchester last night for a surprise performance of ‘Charlemagne’ – watch footage below.
Horan brought his ‘Dinner Party Live On Tour’ to Co-op Live yesterday (September 25), and welcomed Ogden to the stage seven songs into the set for Blossoms’ breakout hit.
‘Charlemagne’ was originally released in 2015 and later appeared as the opening track on Blossoms’ self-titled debut album, which reached Number One in the UK in 2016.

Blossoms marked their debut album’s 10th anniversary last month with an intimate show at Manchester’s Deaf Institute, where they played the album in full and opened with ‘Charlemagne’ – a track traditionally reserved for the end of their concerts.
Speaking to NME around the show, Ogden reflected on the song’s longevity.
“I think if we put out ‘Charlemagne’ tomorrow, people would still jump on it,” he said. “Maybe not – maybe we’d stay at The Deaf Institute and never evolve! It’s hard to say, but I’m going to back myself.”
Blossoms are currently preparing to release their sixth album ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’ on October 2. The record includes ‘Additional Driver’, their collaboration with Declan McKenna, which they first debuted together at the Deaf Institute show.
They will then embark on their biggest headline tour to date, including two returns to Co-op Live on November 28 and December 11.
Horan’s Manchester gig, meanwhile, formed part of the opening week of his ‘Dinner Party Live On Tour’, which began in Birmingham on Tuesday (September 22).
Earlier this year, Horan told NME he felt it would be doing his former band “a disservice” not to include some One Direction songs in his solo shows.
“You want to play great songs, and I was in that band, so that’s helpful,” he said, before specifically arguing that ‘Steal My Girl’ had been “robbed of its day in the sun”.
Horan’s tour continues at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on Monday (September 28), followed by Sheffield’s Utilita Arena and The O2 in London, before heading across Europe.
The run will conclude with two shows at Dublin’s 3Arena on November 9 and 10 and a final date at Belfast’s SSE Arena on November 15. Find any remaining tickets here.
