Watch Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus join Jimmy Eat World for ‘A Praise Chorus’ at The Hollywood Bowl

Blink-182‘s Mark Hoppus joined Jimmy Eat World on stage at the Hollywood Bowl last night (November 7) for a performance of ‘A Praise Chorus’ – watch footage below.

The Arizona band were playing their landmark 2001 album ‘Bleed American’ in full as part of its ongoing 25th anniversary celebrations, and Hoppus made his surprise guest appearance for the record’s second track.

The two bands have a long history together, with Jimmy Eat World having supoorted Blink-182 on their 2001 ‘Take Off Your Pants And Jacket’ tour, before joining Blink and Green Day on the 2002 ‘Pop Disaster Tour’.

Their friendship extended beyond the stage, with Jimmy Eat World even performing at the wedding reception of Blink guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge when he married Jennifer Jenkins in May 2001.

Hoppus has spoken about Jimmy Eat World’s influence on his own band, telling frontman Jim Adkins during a 2020 episode of the latter’s Pass Through Frequencies podcast that they had inspired Blink’s choice of producer.

“We worked with [Mark Trombino] because you guys worked with him and we loved the way your album sounded,” he said. “So much of Blink-182 is influenced by Jimmy Eat World.”

Jimmy Eat World have been touring throughout 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘Bleed American’, the breakthrough album that spawned singles including ‘The Middle’, ‘Sweetness’ and ‘A Praise Chorus’.

The band kicked off the anniversary shows at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre in June, performing the record in its entirety, alongside earlier songs, rarities and B-sides.

In February, Adkins spoke to NME about the album’s enduring legacy and how new generations of fans had continued to discover its songs.

“The people that are finding the album now, or in the last 10 years, means its something they’ve sought out or have been able to absorb in a way that allows it to be theirs, on a personal level,” he said.

“Now you can really feel what it means to you as a listener. That’s powerful.”

Discussing the band’s approach to the anniversary shows, he added: “For this, we’ll probably just play the album as a piece. We’ve been thinking about other material and we’re not just going to do that.

“I’m hoping to present a kind of arc of where we were before and a little bit after ‘Bleed American’, maybe some stuff we haven’t as much or ever. It’s about presenting a story and a little bit into the journal entry that was ‘Bleed American’ for our band.”
