Watch Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo Perform ‘Get Happy’/’Happy Days’ Medley at Intimate Hollywood Event

Happy days are indeed here again for Wicked fans, as Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo surprised attendees at an intimate Hollywood event on Tuesday (Dec. 2) with a command performance of “Get Happy”/”Happy Days Are Here Again.”

In honor of awards season kicking into gear, Universal Pictures hosted a gathering at The Aster members club, where guests were treated to dinner and cocktails following a screening of Wicked: For Good — which hit theaters internationally just a couple of weeks prior on Nov. 21 — at TCL Chinese 6 Theatre down the street, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Later in the night, the film’s two leading ladies jumped up on stage and sang “For Good,” their standout duet from the musical duology’s second act.

Next, Grande and Erivo performed the “Happy” mashup, which they first sang together for NBC’s November Wicked: One Wonderful Night concert special. Wearing a draped white gown, the R.E.M. Beauty founder took on Judy Garland’s part while the Color Purple Tony winner — who wore a dress of black netting — nailed Barbra Streisand’s vocals from the two Hollywood legends’ iconic 1963 version of the medley.

After belting out the dynamic final notes of the duet, Grande and Erivo wrapped each other in a hug as the small audience thundered with applause.

Though the two women’s version of the mashup Tuesday night belongs to those lucky enough to attend the Universal event, their live Wicked: One Wonderful Night rendition is available to stream — as are the rest of the numbers the Wicked cast performed during the concert special. After it aired on NBC, the production company dropped an album compiling all of the live recordings from the night.

The Wicked: For Good soundtrack is also now available for playback, arriving on streaming services the same day the sequel premiered in theaters. On the Billboard 200 chart dated Dec. 6, the soundtrack debuts at No. 2, just underneath Stray Kids’ Do It EP.
