Wale Admits He Was ‘Really Confused’ When Kai Cenat Didn’t Recognize Him at BET Awards

Does Kai Cenat not know who Wale is?

During Monday night’s 2025 BET Awards, the two crossed paths in what looked like a parking garage while Cenat was doing a livestream of his night. They greeted each other as Wale was playing Nintendo Switch, and when he told the popular streamer that he was playing Super Smash Bros., Cenat replied that he would beat him. However, when Kai got in the backseat of his black SUV, he realized everyone in his chat recognized Wale while he didn’t have a clue.

This apparently bothered the D.C. rapper enough to later politely confront Cenat while he was sitting next to Snoop Dogg at the show. “That sh– making me look crazy now, just so you know,” Wale told an oblivious Cenat. “They running with it, but we’ll talk later.”

Both interactions went viral, and when it made The Shade Room, Wale commented that he didn’t realize that Kai had a livestream going. “This is crazy,” Wale wrote when he stepped into The Shade Room. “I didn’t know we was bein filmed both times..we played in a celebrity football game last year …I was reallly confused.”

Then on Tuesday morning (June 10), Wale poked fun at himself and posted their first interaction in the form of an ad for the Nintendo Switch on his X account. “Yall not on smash fr,” he tweeted.

The celebrity football game in question happened in February 2024 before Super Bowl LVIII, and they were indeed both in that game. They were even on the same team.
