Violet Grohl shares menacing new single ‘Cool Buzz’ and announces debut headline tour dates

Violet Grohl has shared her menacing new single ‘Cool Buzz’ and announced her debut headline tour dates.

The LA-based musician and daughter of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl is soon to release her upcoming debut album ‘Be Sweet To Me‘ via Auroura Records/Republic Records/Island Records UK on May 29. So far, she’s shared three songs: ‘THUM’, ‘Applefish’ and the rollicking ‘595‘.

Now, she’s dropped ‘Cool Buzz’, which employs an eerie bassline and builds to a frenetic breakdown in the chorus.

Speaking about the song, Grohl shared: “‘Cool Buzz’ is about “poking fun at moral inconsistencies in punk guys who preach progressive politics, but then in their own musical spaces won’t let women have a chance”.

Take a listen to ‘Cool Buzz’ below:

Grohl will also be embarking on a US headline tour later this year, kicking off in New York’s Baby’s All Right on June 4.

From there, she will travel through Philadelphia (5), Washington (6), before joining The Breeders as a support act for their Baltimore (23) and New York (24) dates.

She is also due to play a number of European festivals including Reading and Leeds, Pukkelpop and Electric Picnic.

Violet previously expanded on the story behind ‘Cool Buzz’ to The Forty-Five, telling them she didn’t like male musicians her age.

“I don’t like male musicians my age – I don’t care,” she told the publication. “They have attitude problems. They’ve been saying this about us for so fucking long – it’s time that they sit down, be quiet and play their music.

“The best advice I’ve been given is that it’s OK to say no or that you don’t want to do something,” she continued. “For a lot of women, it took them a really long time to accept and implement that into their lives. It’s inspiring to be around the kinds of people who don’t give a fuck and will say whatever they feel.”

Meanwhile, Dave Grohl has previously revealed that he had “no idea” Violet had signed a record deal until she told him at dinner.

“I knew she was looking to sign a record deal,” Dave told Chris Moyles on Radio X, “and she was like, ‘Hey dad, can I come over for dinner tonight?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure. What do you want me to make?’ And she came over and told me, like, ‘I signed my record deal today.’ I’m just like, ‘Oh my God!’

“I’m totally uninvolved,” he added. “I’m the dad who wants to be there and know everything. And she’s just totally doing her own thing. It’s amazing.”
