Vince Gill Signs ‘Lifetime’ Record Deal With MCA: What That Means

Vince Gill fans are about to hear a lot more from the Grammy-winning artist: The singer-songwriter plans to release an EP of new music every month for the next year as part of a lifetime record deal he’s signed with Nashville’s MCA Records.

The series, 50 Years From Home, combines new music and catalog tracks and kicks off Oct. 17 with 50 Years From Home: I Gave You Everything I Had, which will include Gill’s memorial service standard “Go Rest High on That Mountain.”

“Vince has been a major part of the MCA family for decades,” said MCA president/CEO Mike Harris in a statement. “This lifetime agreement reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting his artistic vision and providing him artistic freedom while ensuring his legacy continues to grow.”

“I’m feeling the most creative I’ve ever felt in my career these last few years,” said Gill. “I’ve collected a treasure trove of songs and with my friends and partners at MCA we’ve come up with a way to release all this new music. It’s a partnership that’s lasted 36 years and I’m grateful for it.”

After a short stint with RCA, Gill has been on MCA for the bulk of his career, starting with 1989’s When I Call Your Name album, which has been certified double platinum by the RIAA. Gill has also been a member of the Eagles since 2017, following Glenn Frey‘s death.

Gill’s longtime manager, Larry Fitzgerald, added, “MCA Records has been Vince’s home since early in his career, and now he knows their partnership will endure into the future. Vince’s fans wanting his music won’t have to look any further than MCA to find it. My relationship with Vince began 41 years ago and I’m thrilled to stand with him at this important moment.”

At 22 statues, Gill has won the most Grammy Awards of any male country artist. According to his label, he has amassed 1.7 billion global streams and 28.5 million in RIAA certified units.

Deals like Gill’s are rare. A similar one was struck with John Mellencamp in 2014, when Republic Records signed him to a lifetime recording contract.
