Villagers announce ‘Darling Arithmetic’ 10th anniversary acoustic tour

Villagers are set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ‘Darling Arithmetic’ album with three acoustic live dates. Find out the details below.

The album was first released back in April 2015, and came as the highly anticipated follow-up to the Mercury Prize-shortlisted ‘{Awayland}’.

Written, recorded, produced and mixed by frontman Conor O’Brien in Malahide, the record became a fan favourite. This was through its sense of sparse instrumentation and intimate feel. It would also top the charts and win the Ivor Novello for Best Album Award the following year.

Now, 10 years after its debut, O’Brien has announced details of three upcoming live shows that will see him celebrate the release. The special acoustic sets will all be held in May, and kick off with an opening night at the Philharmonic in Paris (23).

From there, the songwriter will head over to London’s Cadogan Hall for a second show on May 27, before wrapping up in Dublin on May 29 with a show at The Helix.

Tickets for the Paris show have now sold out, and tickets for the London and Dublin dates will go on sale this Friday (January 24). Visit here to buy tickets and find a list of shows below.

Villagers’ ‘Darling Arithmetic’ acoustic shows are:

MAY
23 – Philharmonic, Paris (sold out)
27 – Cadogan Hall, London
29 – The Helix, Dublin

In other Villagers news, at the end of 2023, the Irish folk group teamed up with Lisa Hannigan for a cover of the Christmas classic ‘The Little Drummer Boy’. The following year, they played their biggest headline show to date at Dublin’s Trinity College.

Before then, NME gave their ‘Fever Dreams’ album a glowing four-star review back in 2021 and described it as meticulously bringing “Conor O’Brien’s hallucinatory alternative reality to life”.

“O’Brien’s mastery of hallucinatory textures, akin to a folk-soul Kevin Parker, provides further immersion,” it read. “With the real world waiting, you won’t want to wake up.”
