Tyla confirms “there is some new music coming very soon” at Open’er Festival 2025

Tyla revealed she has “new music coming very soon” during her Polish debut on the main stage at Open’er Festival 2025.

Yesterday (July 3), the South African pop sensation took over the main stage, delivering an energetic performance that encompassed amapiano, R&B and more. Surrounded by a fleet of dancers and a small band, she sang songs from her debut album, ‘Tyla’ – which was released last March after the massive success of her 2023 single ‘Water’.

During her set, she asked the audience, “Have you listened to my album?”, before demanding everyone “needs to catch up” on her discography “because there is some new music coming very soon”.

The news comes after the release of ‘Bliss’ – Tyla’s first single of 2025 and first solo release since ‘Tyla’ – which she released back in May, kicking off the next phase of her career. The single was accompanied with a music video directed by Director X. In addition, the 23-year-old collaborated with K-pop artist Lisa on ‘When I’m with You for the latter’s debut solo album ‘Alter Ego’.

Tyla’s self-titled album was met with much fanfare, spawning four singles: the aforementioned ‘Water’, ‘Truth or Dare’, ‘Art’ and ‘Jump’ featuring Gunna and Skillibeng. Most went viral on social media – especially TikTok – further establishing herself as a global pop force. The record has since been certified silver in the UK and gold in the US, as well as won three South African Music Awards in 2024 for Best Pop Album.

In a four-star review, NME praised ‘Tyla’ for the singer’s innovation for blending pop with amapiano. “It is clear we are witnessing the start of something special,” Kayleigh Watson wrote. “Through sheer faith and tenacity, Tyla anoints herself as South Africa’s brightest new star.”

Open’er kicked off this Wednesday (July 2) with poignant performances from the likes of Gracie Abrams and Massive Attack – read NME’s round-up of day one here.

The festival will continue until Sunday morning (July 5) with headline sets from Muse and Linkin Park as well as sets from Doechii, JPEGMAFIA, A. G Cook and more.

In other news, Tyla is set to perform at this year’s All Points East, joining Raye, Doechii and more for a stellar night of anthemic pop. You can find any remaining tickets for RAYE at All Points East 2025 here.
