“It’s been a long time in the making, but we’re finally bringing the energy and vibe of Strawberries & Creem from Cambridge to London. We couldn’t wait until summer, so we were very excited about the opportunity to bring the festival indoors this November,” Strawberries & Creem co-founder Chris Jammer said in a statement.
He continued: “Drumsheds is an incredible venue that I’ve been a huge fan of since opening and we can’t wait to showcase something totally different in the space. Getting Ty Dolla $ign here, [particularly] given his recent album with Kanye, is cool. It’s our 10 year-anniversary this year and this feels like the perfect way to celebrate with our community this winter.”
The news comes over a month after Ty Dolla $ign and Kanye West released the second instalment of their ‘Vultures’ album trilogy, ‘Vultures 2’. Ye and Dolla $ign dropped their debut collaborative project, ‘Vultures 1’, back in February and promised two subsequent LPs would drop in March and April, respectively. However, ‘Vultures 2’ wasn’t released until August 3.
When ‘Vultures 1’ was released, NME gave the album two stars, saying, “‘Vultures 1’ might not be the total dud that could put Kanye’s career six feet under, but it is far from one of his best efforts either.”
The last Strawberries & Creem festival happened in 2022, and NME awarded the event three stars: “There’s a nagging sense of what could have been at this year’s event. With numerous setbacks and all the failed promises, 2022’s Strawberries & Creem festival wasn’t a train wreck at all. It pulled through and was a much-needed intimate affair this festival season.”‘
To make up for not having a festival last year, Strawberries & Creem teamed up with HUGO for an event series called S&C Presents HUGO Nights.
This year, Strawberries & Creem helped to curate music on the RedBull Stage in the iconic Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park at this year’s Notting Hill Carnival.
