Fueled by the surging punk and alternative revival, iHeartRadio brought the heat to the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on Saturday with its annual ALTter EGO concert.
Presented by Capital One and hosted by Woody from iHeartRadio ALT 98.7’s The Woody Show, the night was a celebration of alternative rock’s greats. The powerhouse lineup featured legendary bands Green Day, Sublime, Good Charlotte, Twenty One Pilots and Cage the Elephant alongside breakout acts Mt. Joy, Gigi Perez and Almost Monday.
Green Day ignited the stage with their signature punk spirit and electric energy, delivering a powerhouse performance of ’90s and 2000s anthem after anthem. They kicked off the set with “American Idiot,” which not only marked the band’s debut on the Billboard Hot 100, but also ruled the Alternative Airplay chart for six weeks in 2004. The crowd roared as the band invited an audience member to join them onstage for “Know Your Enemy,” their first No. 1 hit on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in 2009.
Sublime, now fronted by the late Bradley Nowell’s 30-year-old son, Jakob Nowell, lit the venue even as the singer performed on crutches and a scooter due to a broken leg. The ska rock band delivered the newly released single “Ensenada,” the band’s first song in more than 30 years, which crowned the Alternative Airplay chart for nine consecutive weeks in late 2025. Nowell also paused for a moment of silence in honor of Grateful Dead’s founding member Bob Weir, who died on Jan. 10 due to lung complications.
Meanwhile, Good Charlotte made a triumphant return with its first show in the city in more than a decade, while Cage the Elephant hit the stage fresh off its North American tour with Oasis. Twenty One Pilots’ Tyler Joseph added a personal note to the evening, as he revealed that the show marked drummer Josh Dun’s first live performance since becoming a father.
