“It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with,” the athlete said on the latest episode of New Heights
Travis Kelce has been engaged to Taylor Swift for a few weeks, but being able to call the musician his fiancée still hasn’t lost its spark. “I still get giddy,” the athlete said on the latest episode of New Heights, speaking about their engagement for the first time. “It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”
The couple announced their engagement on Aug. 26 in what co-host Jason Kelce called “the Instagram post heard ’round the world.” The announcement garnered 30 million likes within a day. “It’s been so much fun hearing from everybody, seeing the internet go crazy,” Kelce said.
Kelce’s recent outing at the University of Nebraska versus the University of Cincinnati game last week was “my first time introducing Taylor as my fiancée to a few of my teammates,” the Kansas City Chiefs player said. “It was pretty cool.” It was their first public outing as an engaged couple.

As for his bachelor party, Kelce said, “I haven’t thought about it one second.” Planning the engagement itself was work enough. “You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way,” he said about tailoring the moment to Swift. “You might be able to get some ideas from how other people did it. It might get the creative juices going. But I would just say know your partner, know who you’re doing it for, and do it for the right reasons. Everything else will be beautiful.”
Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, shared details about the engagement in an interview with ABC News 5 Cleveland shortly after the announcement post went live. “They were going to go out to dinner, and she was ready to go, and he was like, ‘Let’s go out in the garden, let’s go out there on the little patio out there and have a glass of wine. We’ve got time,’” he said. “They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful. They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So to see them together is great.”
