Travis Kelce has praised his girlfriend Taylor Swift, comparing her stage performances to those of an elite athlete.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been in a relationship with Swift since the summer of 2023 and will welcome her onto his New Heights podcast on Wednesday (August 13), where she will discuss her new album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ for the first time.
She announced her 12th album at 12:12am today (August 12), with three pre-order packages available now: a vinyl, a cassette and a CD with poster. Find yours here.
Ahead of the podcast, Kelce has given an interview to GQ in which he has discussed their relationship and his admiration for her epic, three-hour stage ‘Eras Tour’ shows of the last few years.

“To go out on stage, on a computer, essentially, for three hours,” he said. “The [Eras Tour] floor is literally – I’ve seen underneath that thing. It is a football-field-sized computer. You take that into Singapore, where it is scorching hot, and all of a sudden you’re feeling the fumes from the computer and you’re feeling the fumes from the sun and you’re doing a show for three hours with a lot of energy, bringing it every single song. That is arguably more exhausting than how much I put in on a Sunday, and she’s doing it three, four, five days in a row.”
Speaking about the similarities in their respective careers, he continued: “I hadn’t experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, the ups and downs of being in front of millions. That was very relatable, seeing how exhausted she would get after shows.”
“She may not think of herself as an athlete. She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete. But I’ve seen what she goes through. I’ve seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it’s mind-blowing.”

Kelce has joined Swift on stage once – at the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ segment of one of her Wembley Stadium shows in June 2024, Kelce lifted her off her feet while dressed as one of her regular backing dancers. As he placed her on her seat, and shook her awake, he dusted her off and got Swift ready to perform ‘I Can Do It With A Broken Heart’.
“I get to be the plus one,” Kelce added in the new interview. “I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan. I’m a fan of music. I’m a fan of art. And it’s so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field… I feel that same enjoyment every time she comes to my shows. I sort of made her a football fan. She is the most engulfed fan now. She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short – all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.”

Swift has attended the last two Super Bowls to support Kelce, helping the 2024 game become the most-watched broadcast in US TV history since the 1969 moon landing.
Kelce has also spoken about his desire to DJ at Swift’s live shows in the future. “Come on, you know I’m a hype man,” he said. “Get it rocking in there. Have the Swifties bouncing off the walls before T gets out there.”
Ahead of the new album, Swift has shared a curated playlist of 22 of her own tracks, all produced by Max Martin and Shellback, with fans now assuming that they will feature heavily on ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.
