Fran Healy of Travis has shared an update with fans after an accident on stage.
The incident took place as the Scottish band began their tour of the US, taking to the stage at the Showbox venue in Seattle, Washington. However, as the members began leaving the stage after the set, the frontman twisted his ankle while saying goodbye to the audience.
Now, he has taken to social media to explain what happened, and recall how the accident led to him being escorted out of the venue on a gurney, before being taken to the hospital.
“If anyone saw me being wheeled out of the venue last night on a gurney and being put into an ambulance it’s because I seriously twisted my ankle stepping off stage,” he explained in the clip. “As I was waving goodbye to everyone, it sort of twisted around back to front.”
He continued: “We thought it was broken, went to hospital, thankfully it’s just a really gnarly sprain.”
Healy also made a quip while confirming that all remaining shows will go ahead as planned, telling fans that he had been given “one of those massive space shoes” to wear at the upcoming gigs.
If anyone saw Fran being put into an ambulance after our Seattle show, no you didn’t 👀

“The show must go on, we’ll see you there, we’ll see you on the rest of the tour,” he concluded. “I’m fine, I’m slightly dizzy just now because I’m on some painkillers but apart from that it’s all good.”
The tour comes following a string of UK dates last year, and celebrates the release of their 10th full album ‘L.A. Times’, which was released in July.
It contained the singles ‘Gaslight’, ‘Bus’ and ‘Raze The Bar’, and marked their first release since 2016’s ‘Everything At Once’. Later, the band shared a deluxe version of the record with 10 new and exclusive tracks.
Around the time of the release, Healy and co. spoke to NME about opening for The Killers on their UK/EU tour.
“We’ve been friends for years and years now and Ronnie [Vannucci Jr.] and Brandon [Flowers] are the sweetest guys,” the frontman said. “It’s nice to be a support band again too. I love being a support band. It reminds me of when we supported Oasis [on the ‘Be Here Now’ Tour in 1997].
“We went on every single night to blow them off the stage which is what a good support band should be doing. You go on, the other band watch you from the wings going, ‘Fuck’. And then they come on and do a better show because of it.”
Later this year, Travis will perform at one of the huge outdoor summer shows in Halifax, as well as at Victorious Festival and Splendour Festival. Visit here for upcoming UK tickets.
