Tom Morello Will Protest Fascism With ‘Solidarity & Resistance’ Benefit Concert in Minnesota

Tom Morello will honor Renee Good and Alex Pretti — two Minneapolis residents shot and killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents — with the benefit event, A Concert of Solidarity & Resistance to Defend Minnesota.

On Friday, Jan. 30, Morello will perform alongside Rise Against, Al Di Meola, Ike Reilly, and a slate of special guests at First Avenue in Minneapolis. The event will span two hours of performances with all proceeds benefiting the families of Good and Pretti. Tickets are available now.

“We are coming to Minneapolis where the people have heroically stood up against ICE, stood up against Trump, stood up against this terrible rising tide of state terror,” Morello said in a statement. “Where the people have stood up for their neighbors and themselves, for democracy and justice. Ain’t nobody coming to save us except us and it’s now or never.”

The streets of Minneapolis have been flooded with protesters in the wake of ICE’s violence. Musicians have responded online and in the studio. Artists including Billie Eilish have called on fellow celebrities with substantial platforms to speak out, while Bruce Springsteen and more are among those recording protest songs in real time.

“If it looks like fascism, sounds like fascism, acts like fascism, dresses like fascism, talks like fascism, kills like fascism and lies like fascism, boys & girls it’s f*cking fascism,” Morello continued. “It’s here, it’s now, it’s in my city, it’s in your city and it must be resisted, protested, defended against, stood up to, exposed, ousted, overthrown and driven out. By you and by me.”
