Tom Cruise’s estranged daughter with Katie Holmes legally cuts ties

Tom Cruise‘s estranged daughter Suri, with Katie Holmes has reportedly dropped her legal surname.

The 20 year-old who is attending Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has legally changed her surname from Cruise to Noelle, her mother’s middle name, according to voter registration records via Entertainment Weekly.

It was first reported via The Independent in 2024 that Suri was going by a different surname when she graduated high school, with “Suri Noelle” listed in the graduation pamphlet at LaGuardia High School in Manhattan.

Cruise and Suri are believed to be estranged with the pair not been seen in public since the Mission: Impossible star and Holmes divorced in 2012.

Cruise and Holmes met in 2005 and welcomed Suri a year later, then got married in 2006 in a ceremony in Italy.

Holmes filed for divorce in June 2012, after over five years of marriage.

Page Six has reported that Suri is registered to vote in the state of Pennsylvania where she is about to begin her junior year at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Cruise and Holmes are yet to comment publicly on Suri’s name change.

Elsewhere, Cruise recently spoke at the closing ceremony of the 2026 World Cup which also saw performances from Post Malone, Jennifer Hudson, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and Italian singer Laura Pausini.

The star also recently reportedly moved back to the US after years of living in the UK.

Cruise has previously spoken about his love of the UK, saying in 2022 (via The Mirror): “I guess I am an Anglophile. I spend a lot of time in Britain and that’s not just for work reasons. I just love being here.”

“It’s a fantastic blend of old and new. I love seeing the sights, the Tower of London, Nelson’s Column, Buckingham Palace and all those fantastic places which are just full of history. Britain is trendy, too, and has a lot that other countries then copy. I also love the British countryside,” he added.

“Seeing cows and sheep in the fields here is just so very British and just like we see in the movies in America. I always wondered whether it is really like that. It’s great to go back to the US and say, ‘Yes, it really is’.”
