The report emphasised just how significant the app has become in creating hits – 10 of the 11 UK Official Chart Number Ones and 13 of the 16 Billboard Hot 100 Number Ones were associated with a TikTok trend this year.

The UK’s Number One artist on TikTok in 2024 was Central Cee, who had placed at Number Three in last year’s countdown. Earlier this year, his single ‘BAND4BAND’ broke the record for single-day streams by a UK rapper.

Coming second is Charli XCX, who spearheaded a cultural phenomenon with her album ‘Brat’, leading to this summer being officially christened ‘Brat summer’. Coldplay come in at Number Three thanks to their innovative ‘Moon Music’ campaign, which included a spectacular performance on Grafton Street in Dublin that was captured for TikTok.

Top of the list was ‘Nasty’ by Tinashe, which was at the centre of the “match ym freak” trend. Blood Orange was second, while third was Benson Boone‘s ‘Beautiful Things’.
