The track, which is the third to be lifted from their forthcoming sixth album ‘It’s The Long Goodbye’ after ‘Designed To Lose’ and ‘Waiting For The Phone Call’, contains “every element of emotion I was feeling,” says frontman James Graham following the loss of his mother to dementia.

The album follows Graham grappling with the light and dark of losing his mother while becoming a father himself, all while dealing with his own mental health struggles.

Speaking to NME about the record in a recent interview, he said: “There were a few things that really kept me going. One was being a father and making sure that I was there, especially when I was ill. That’s my number one job. This other thing keeping me going was these songs that we were writing.”

Graham added: “Now, looking at it, the album needed to take seven years to allow me the mental space. Now I can map the songs that were written either at the start of the process, in the middle of the hellhole, or when my mum had died. It really does document the seven years, and the hell inside my mind. As soon as I got the final masters through and listened to it, a huge weight was off my shoulders.”

Produced by bandmate and childhood friend Andy MacFarlane, the LP also features Arab Strap’s David Jeans and Mogwai live team-member Alex Mackay playing drums and bass on the album, along with additional production from Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine) and mixing by Chris Coady (Slowdive). It will arrive on Friday, March 27 and is available to pre-order here.

The band are also due to hit the road for a headline UK and European tour kicking off at the Legend Club in Milan in Italy on April 12. They will hit the UK at Electric Bristol on April 29 before wrapping their dates at the Button Factory in Dublin on May 9.

Graham said of the impending tour: “I’ve missed that: that connection of when you’re in a room and people are fully passionate. Sharing that you’re not alone is one of the most powerful things. I’m still anxious about getting up there, but when I do I’ll be fine. I’ve pushed myself as a writer and as a vocalist.
