The Sunshine Underground announce one-off reunion show for summer 2026 in Leeds

The Sunshine Underground have announced a one-off comeback show for next summer to take place in their hometown of Leeds.

The indie-dance band split in 2016 after the release of their fourth album ‘Luminescent’ and have not played together since, but on July 25, 2026, they will play a huge reunion show at Kirkstall Abbey.

The show will also mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album ‘Raise The Alarm’, and they will be joined on the day by White Lies, Hard-Fi, The Futureheads, The Twang and The Whip.

Fans can sign up here to gain early access to tickets, while a pre-sale begins at 9am on Wednesday (September 10). General sale is at 9am on Friday (September 12), and you will be able to find yours here.

Writing on Instagram on Saturday (September 6), the band wrote: “Well, would you look at this… The Sunnies are coming back together for a special one off reunion. Saturday 25th July 2026, live at Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds.”

“As anyone who was there the first time around will know, the Leeds shows absolutely went OFF, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do it all over again!”

“See you next year, it’s gonna be one of them days.”

The Sunshine Underground formed while studying in Telford in the early 2000s, before relocating to Leeds. They became closely associated with the “nu-rave” scene and released ‘Raise The Alarm’ in 2006 via City Rockers. It included the singles ‘Put You In Your Place’, ‘Commercial Breakdown’ and ‘Borders’.

Three more studio albums followed, but after the release of ‘Luminescent’ in 2016, they announced their split, saying that “ten years on from our debut album feels like the right time to draw a line under what has been an absolute blast and look to new musical adventures”.
