The Marías’ María Zardoya announces debut solo album ‘Melt’ as Not For Radio

María Zardoya, the frontwoman of The Marías, has announced her debut solo album ‘Melt’, under the name Not For Radio.

Indie pop band The Marías, who write and perform in English and Spanish, released their second album ‘Submarine’ in 2024 and have collaborated with Bad Bunny, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco and toured with Billie Eilish.

Now, Zardoya has announced her new solo project Not For Radio, and confirmed that the debut album ‘Melt’ will be released on Friday (October 10) via Atlantic Records – pre-order/pre-save here.

She has shared clips of new music from the album on the Not For Radio Instagram page in recent days, with the brief snippets suggesting dreamy, atmospheric indie production and warm, breathy vocals in the style of Beach House.

Writing on Instagram last week, Zardoya said: “My intention with this project was to make music for the love of experimenting, far from home, fully in the moment, open to whatever stream of consciousness unfolded around us. And that’s exactly what we did in the snowy woods, tucked away, as ice melted beneath our feet and as we melted into the songs. What grew from the melted ice is this album.”

She went on to thank producers and musicians Sam Evian and Luca Buccellati for their contributions to the record, adding: “I’m eternally grateful for the weeks we spent creating together bringing this vision to life. I’ll cherish those moments forever. It was scary branching out on my own, but i felt so supported, understood and protected by you.”

“I’ve held these songs safely inside the womb, and they’ll be yours in 10 days,” she concluded.
