The Maccabees launch ‘YALA! TV’ ahead of homecoming All Points East gig

Ahead of their huge homecoming gig at London’s All Points East next month, The Maccabees have launched ‘YALA! TV’ – a weekly video series featuring live music, interviews and more.

Last October, The Maccabees confirmed they would be reuniting to headline All Points East Festival at London’s Victoria Park this August.

The curated line-up will also feature Bombay Bicycle Club, The Cribs, Dry Cleaning, Nilüfer Yanya, The Murder Capital, Divorce, Prima Queen CMAT, Black Country, New Road, Everything Everything, Sorry, Katy J Pearson and Youth Lagoon, while the YALA! Stage will host performances from Warmduscher, Man/Woman/Chainsaw, The Futureheads and Willie J. Healey. It is, in the words of The Maccabees’ Felix White, a lineup of “absurdly high-quality guitar music”.

Now the band have announced details of ‘YALA! TV’, a weekly video series hosted by White that’ll give viewers a chance to get to know some of the acts the band will be sharing the stage with at All Points East on August 24.

The first episode is out now and features White chatting to former NME The Cover stars Divorce alongside a live performance of their recently-released single ‘O Calamity’. Check out the first episode below:

‘O Calamity’ is the first new material from the alt-country band since they shared their debut album ‘Drive To Goldenhammer’ in March, but it was actually written back in 2018.

“Felix [Mackenzie-Barrow, co-vocalist] and I were performing under a different alias then,” said the band’s Tiger Cohen-Towell in a statement. “We always thought it was a beautiful song and kept it in our pile of material, but didn’t include it on the album simply because of how long ago it had been written.”

“This feels like a good time to stop hanging onto it, so here it is: a snapshot of our past written by the two of us, scarcely more than teenagers at the point of creation,” they continued. “It feels like an absolute world away, but good songs never get old.”

Future episodes of ‘YALA! TV’ will feature exclusive performances from The Murder Capital, Man/Woman/Chainsaw and Warmduscher alongside conversations with Dry Cleaning, Black Country, New Road, and The Maccabees. Once the season has ended, the YALA Records YouTube channel will host a curated selection of backstage footage and exclusive interview content from All Points East.

The Maccabees will headline All Points East 2025 alongside Cleo Sol (August 15), Chase & Status (16), Barry Can’t Swim (22) and RAYE (23). Tickets are available here.

Speaking about their first show back together earlier this year, White told NME: “There was a lot of feeling in that room. It surprised me, actually, because I was finding that on stage, in a split second, I was euphoric and then I was actually crying at Tufnell Park Dome and then feeling other things. “You felt all this feeling inside your body that the action of playing the music brings out in us, and it was all happening in there and just felt amazing.”
