The Belair Lip Bombs announce new album ‘Again’, share glistening new single ‘Hey You’

The Belair Lip Bombs have announced a new album, ‘Again’, and shared its lead single ‘Hey You’.

The band became the first Australian signing to Jack White‘s label Third Man Records last year, who then went on to reissue their debut album ‘Lush Life’.

Their second album will arrive via the label on October 31 – pre-save or pre-order it here. Its lead single ‘Hey You’ has been released to mark the announcement, reflecting their ‘yearn-core’ sensibilities with its gauzy riffs and lovelorn lyrics. “Told you I love you, but it isn’t fair/If I have to I tell you when I need you there/Breaking the silence, I’m holding my own/Reading the message when nobody’s home,” sings vocalist Maisie Everett.

“Having a synth loop driving a whole song is something that we’ve never done before,” Everett commented in a press release, while bandmate Daniel ‘Dev’ Devlin added: “We kind of leaned into that and pushed to make the scope of the song bigger than some of the other songs in the album.”

Check out the video for ‘Hey You’ below:

The tracklist of ‘Again’ is:

‘Again and Again’
‘Don’t Let Them Tell You (It’s Fair)’
‘Another World’
‘Cinema’
‘Back Of My Hand’
‘Hey You’
‘If You’ve Got The Time’
‘Smiling’
‘Burning Up’
‘Price Of A Man’

In a four-star review of ‘Lush Life’, NME wrote: “In The Belair Lip Bombs, Everett is front and centre, not just departing from [former band’s] CLAMM’s glowering post-punk but moving between a spirited range of styles.

“In fact, there’s an eclectic quality to debut album ‘Lush Life’ that might sound unfocused in another band, but Everett and company are so honed and controlled on each track that we’re brought right along for every swerve and sidestep. It helps that the songs are short and naggingly catchy, and that bassist Jimmy Droughton and drummer Liam De Bruin provide such unwavering momentum for Mike Bradvica’s versatile lead guitar and Everett’s equally varied vocal turns.”
