Question…? Which pop superstar generously donated a large sum to help make sure hungry families have food ahead of the holidays? Answer: Taylor Swift.
Feeding America — a non-profit organization that works to help make sure everyone who needs food has it, and works to improve food security for all — revealed on Tuesday (Dec. 23) that the 14-time Grammy winner has donated $1 million to its efforts.
“We are incredibly grateful for Taylor Swift’s $1 million gift to Feeding America. This holiday season, her continued support is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we unite to end hunger,” Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the organization’s CEO, said in a statement posted to Instagram. “When we join together alongside people facing hunger, we can make sure families have a full table this holiday season and beyond.”
The message was shared on a sparkly orange background with aqua blue accents, mimicking the color scheme of Swift’s Billboard 200 No. 1 album The Life of a Showgirl. The accompanying caption on the post echoed Babineaux-Fontenot’s statement: “We’re grateful to @taylorswift for standing with families facing hunger. Her generosity reminds us what’s possible when we come together to help ensure full tables this holiday season and beyond.”
Her donation comes at a time when low-income families across the country are bracing for changes to SNAP benefits in the new year after already having the aid halted during the six-week government shutdown in October and November, the longest yet in the country’s history. In 2026, work requirements for SNAP recipients will be expanded due to a tax and spending bill President Donald Trump signed in July. A Congressional Budget Office analysis reveals the change will mean 2.4 million fewer Americans will receive food stamps in an average month, including 300,000 families with kids.
This marks just the latest act of charity from Swift, who has a history of making large donations to support issues close to her heart. She has previously donated to food banks along her Eras Tour route; made a sizable gift to fellow cat lover Beth Stern’s foundation, Beth’s Furry Friends; given her employees massive bonuses; donated to Tennessee tornado relief after one killed multiple people and destroyed hundreds of buildings in December 2023; helped out a young Swiftie battling cancer; and much more.
The news of her generosity comes as the final two episodes of her six-part docuseries Taylor Swift: The End of an Era dropped on Disney+.
