More than 1 million of us are thrilled for the newly engaged Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. That number, according to Meta, which owns Instagram, represents the number of people who reposted the couple’s engagement announcement on Tuesday, breaking a record.
According to data from Meta, the company said Swift and Kelce’s post surpassed the 1 million mark in just six hours, more than any other post has garnered on the social media platform, as Billboard reports.
The post, for anyone who lives under an actual rock or whose internet has been down for the last 24 hours, included a carousel of photos of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end proposing to the pop star. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the pair captioned the post. The photos show the couple surrounded by flowers and foliage, and include a close-up of the engagement ring Kelce gave Swift: a Kindred Lubeck-designed ring from Artifex Fine Jewelry, featuring an old mine brilliant cut.
Within the first hour the post went live, it had already garnered 14 million “likes,” according to Billboard. As of press time, the “likes” have grown to more than 30 million.
Beyond Swifties and Kelce fans showing their excitement on their engagement, the couple’s friends — and perhaps a frenemy — joined the frenzy of congratulations on their engagement. Gracie Abrams congratulated Swift during her performance in Mexico City. Even President Trump, who previously looked to be a sworn enemy — having called Swift a “woke singer” who is “NO LONGER HOT” earlier this month and has said he hates her — congratulated the couple. He noted of Kelce, “I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy,” before adding, “And I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.”

The engagement comes after two years of dating. According to Kelce’s dad, the proposal actually occurred around two weeks — or a fortnight for those into adding more easter egg pursuits into the basket — prior to the couple’s public announcement on Tuesday.
“Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” Ed Kelce told ABC News 5 Cleveland. “He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.”
