Tame Impala Tells JENNIE All the Reasons Why ‘She’s a Lot Like’ Their Fellow Collaborator Dua Lipa

JENNIE and Kevin Parker have some famous collaborators in common — Dua Lipa included.

The BLACKPINK star and Tame Impala artist reunited for Rolling Stone‘s Musicians on Musicians issue in a conversation published Tuesday (Oct. 13), during which they bonded over their professional and personal relationships with Lipa.

“Working with Dua didn’t feel like work,” JENNIE recalled of creating 2025 single “Handlebars” with the British pop star. “It truly just felt like a day out with her in New York for a shoot. We were texting as if we were trying to find a date to hang out.”

Parker agreed that making music with Lipa is “really special,” having previously worked on much of her Billboard 200 No. 2 album Radical Optimism. “Dua Lipa is the other person who I know who cannot sit still, who’s just always doing stuff,” he told JENNIE.

“As I said, she’s a lot like you,” he continued. “She’s always doing stuff. She’s got a book podcast, she’s got a music career. And like you, she does it quite effortlessly. If I did half of the things that she does in one day, I would need to sleep for four days.”

“I do one thing a day, I’m like, ‘Well, that’s me,’” he continued. “She’ll duck out from a recording session to interview Monica Lewinsky for a podcast or something, and then she’ll come back and finish the session.”

“She has energy, and she does it with love and passion,” JENNIE added. “It’s very inspiring.”

The K-pop idol and Parker came together in February for a remix of the latter’s “Dracula,” with their revamped version (pun intended) sending the track to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s by and large JENNIE’s biggest hit as a soloist and a highlight of her work independent from BLACKPINK.

Also while speaking to Parker, she compared and contrasted her experiences touring with bandmates ROSÉ, LISA and JISOO to hitting the road on her own. “The main difference that I’ve noticed is actually the pre-production part of it,” JENNIE explained. “Obviously, being in a band, there needs to be a lot of communication between each other, and to combine everything and to turn it into one is a completely different thing from me being able to just take care of everything on my side.”

The chat comes as JENNIE is embarking on her next solo era, which she kickstarted in August with the release of her FALLEN ANGEL EP.
