Tame Impala appear to announce new single ‘Loser’

Tame Impala have seemingly announced another new single, ‘Loser’. Find all the details below.

The Kevin Parker-led band returned last month with the seven-minute, house-inspired track ‘End Of Summer’, which the frontman had previously debuted during a DJ set in Barcelona. It marks the group’s debut release under Columbia Records.

Fans have since been speculating about whether Tame Impala’s long-awaited fifth album is coming soon, following 2020’s ‘The Slow Rush’.

Some eagle-eyed followers have noticed that the ‘End Of Summer’ writer and producer credits are currently listed as “loser” on official online streaming platforms. This cryptic hint led to rumours about what’s coming next from Parker.

Later, some ‘Loser’ posters were spotted in New York and Chicago. Alongside what is believed to be the song name is a photograph of Parker in his younger years and a potential release date of “9.3” – pointing to next Wednesday (September 3).

Numerous outlets have shared the artwork too, including Consequence. You can check out the posts below.

Shortly before sharing ‘End Of Summer’, Parker shared a series of photographs on social media – revealing that he had “been busy” on new music in the studio.

The last slide of the carousel featured a whiteboard that appeared to show his progress on various new tracks. Each one had all the aspects ticked off – including “MIXED” – and were marked as “DONE”.

Earlier this month, the producer and musician posted another collection of images and videos, captioned: “Been busy part 2.” One clip saw Parker recording a funky bassline for a new song. Another snap showed him playing a synthesiser.

There is currently no further official information about Tame Impala’s upcoming fifth studio album.

Since dropping ‘The Slow Rush’ over five years ago, Tame Impala have contributed to the Barbie soundtrack album, and collaborated with Thundercat, Diana Ross, Gorillaz and Justice.

Additionally, Parker worked as a co-producer and co-writer on Dua Lipa’s 2024 album ‘Radical Optimism’, and has joined the pop star live on stage at Glastonbury and in Sydney.

Back in February, he won his first Grammy for ‘Neverender’ – one of his collaborations with Justice.

Parker reflected on the creation of his 2015 album ‘Currents’ recently, to mark its 10th anniversary.
