Only the most hardcore Rolling Stones fanatics are going to ace this quiz
The Rolling Stones have been around so long that Marilyn Monroe was walking the earth, the Beatles were little known outside of their native Liverpool, and ZIP codes were a brand new concept when they played their first show in the summer of 1962. They’ve amassed a ton of history in the 63 years since that fateful night, and even though it’s been chronicled in countless magazine articles, books, documentaries, and even the occasional shoddy biopic, keeping track of all the minutia isn’t easy. That’s why only the true Rolling Stones fanatics are going to ace this quiz. And for the rest of you, good luck.
Scorecard:
Zero to 30% correct: To quote the title of a Steel Wheels song you certainly haven’t heard, there’s no reason to feel ”Sad Sad Sad.” We encourage you to read Keith’s memoir Life, watch the documentary Gimme Shelter, and spend a little time with Goat’s Head Soup, It’s Only Rock and Roll, Black and Blue, and all the other great Stones albums from their vast catalog. There’s much to discover.
31 to 60% correct: Quite impressive. Your Stones knowledge goes way beyond Hot Rocks and the soundtracks to Martin Scorsese movies. If you want to learn more, spend time on their fan site IORR, and pick up a copy of Stanley Booth’s The True Adventures of the Rolling Stones. If you want more, this particular magazine has written about them a time or two over the years…

61 to 100% correct: Amazing! Were you there at the Marquee Club in 1962? Did you arrive at Altamont super early to get a prime spot near the stage? Did you scream out ”Charlie Is My Darling!” before it was the title of their tour film? And in the extremely likelihood you answered ”no” to all of these questions, you are still still an expert Rolling Stones fan. Celebrate by breaking out your original vinyl pressing of Sucking in the Seventies and turning the volume way up. The neighbors need to hear every second of ”Everything Is Turning to Gold.”
