Some love stories are difficult to comprehend. On Thursday, Suki Waterhouse debuted the music video for “On This Love,” which captures Waterhouse as a youthful, happy woman enjoying her life alongside a noticeably older partner.
The sexy video, directed by Suki’s sister Immy, opens with Waterhouse singing in front of a fireplace about an imperfect love she wants to keep. “You won’t settle down with a damsel distressed/And I won’t keep a man if he loves his mistress,” sings Waterhouse on the track.
The cinematic, Nineties-esque visual then introduces Suki’s jarringly older lover (played by Grant Rivers) as they ride around in the mobility scooter amid laughs. “Do you hear me baby?/Do you feel me baby?,” she sings. “I think you want me baby/Just like a drug/I can OD on this love.” In quick vignettes, Suki opens gifts from Rivers, watches him golf, and blows kisses into the camera from their mansion’s balcony.
“She is provocative and playful and is absorbed in the joy of living and the freedom [of] unconventional decisions,” Immy tells Rolling Stone of Suki’s character in the video. “Suki’s voice behind the video explores the space between perception and power.”
Immy adds: “The story centers on a relationship that’s easy to label, but harder to understand. Yes, there’s age, yes there’s money, but there’s also a charm, joy, and rhythm that defies the expected.”

The new track follows the singer’s residency at L.A.’s Roxy Theatre and the release of her single, “Dream Woman” in February. Both “On This Love” and “Dream Woman” follow the release of her album, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin, which dropped in mid-September.
“Love constantly shows up in how you deal with life, how you develop as a person, who you choose to love, and how you show up in a relationship. It’s like this constant fountain of inspiration,” she told Rolling Stone of her album at the time. “It just never really stops.”
