Stevie Nicks says she’s working on a new album: “They are real stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men”

Stevie Nicks has revealed she is working on a new album – her first in 14 years.

The Fleetwood Mac singer shared the news in an acceptance speech at the Pollstar Hall of Fame, where she was being inducted into the Hall of Fame by music mogul Jimmy Iovine. Speaking to the crowd, she revealed she is “actually making a record right now,” adding: “I call it the ‘Ghost’ record because it just kind of happened in the last couple of weeks.

“I have seven songs and they are autobiographical, real stories where I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life,” she continued. “They’re not airy-fairy songs that you’re wondering who they’re about, but you really don’t get it. They are real stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men.”

Nicks told the crowd she was inspired to make the record after reflecting on her friendship with Prince. She recounted that she once met up with the singer after the premiere of Purple Rain, saying that watching Prince slap the film’s love interest Apollonia caused her to “freak out” and “go to the fancy bathroom and sit there for the rest of the whole movie.”

After telling Prince she only loved the first half of the film, she added that she had brought him a gift: “‘It’s a really beautiful 24 carat necklace with little gold hearts on it.’ And he goes, ‘I don’t want your necklace’ and then he said, ‘You always bring me a gift. You never bring me you.’”

Nicks also said Iovine was “next” in the line of men she would write about. The pair dated from 1980-81.

She also revealed the album was written in the aftermath of her being evacuated from her Los Angeles home during the recent wildfires.

Nicks recently unveiled the dates for her 2025 North American tour, where she will kick off in August in Boston. A second leg will then commence in October, where Nicks will play three concerts in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Oklahoma City.
