Spice Girls’ Geri Halliwell comments on possible group reunion: “It’s more respectful to come as one”

Spice Girls‘ Geri Halliwell – aka Ginger Spice, now known as Geri Horner – has commented on a possible reunion of the group with all its members.

Horner, who teamed up with Mel C (Sporty Spice), Mel B (Scary Spice) and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) for their successful 2019 reunion tour, recently spoke to The Sunday Times about her current life as a young adult novelist.

Spice Girls last performed as a full five-piece – with Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice – at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. Beckham opted out of the 2019 tour, choosing to focus on her career as a businesswoman in the fashion industry.

On a possible reunion with Beckham in the fold, Horner told The Sunday Times that “there will be something” and that they will “come as one”.

“My hope is we come back together as a collective,” she admitted. “It’s more respectful to come as one.”

“We love each other. I love them, I care about them, we want the best for each other,” she continued. “We shared something so monumental. We’ve always believed in each other, had trust in each other, which is beautiful.” She also revealed to the Sunday Times reporter that all five members currently share a chat group.

Rumours about the group reuniting have been circulating for years now, and reached new heights last April when the members were seen giving a surprise performance of their hit ‘Stop’ at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday party.

Individual members have said that they’d be willing to reform, too. Mel B, for instance, fuelled the rumours last March by saying that the group would “definitely [be] doing something” for their 30th anniversary.

Then, in December, Emma Bunton revisited their discography and shared a Christmas-inspired version of ‘2 Become 1’ with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra.

Mel C has spoken about hopes of a Spice Girls reunion recently too, saying that she feels that “it’s time” for a comeback.

In summer 2023, some fans were convinced that Spice Girls would perform in the Legends’ slot at Glastonbury that year after Mel B alluded to it on The Big Narstie Show. Mel C then shut the rumours down, saying it didn’t work logistically for the group.

Last week, it was revealed that the group’s hit ‘Spice Up Your Life’ currently airs on UK radio stations with a controversial lyric censored out.
