Sphere’s ‘Wizard of Oz’ Hits New Box Office Milestone

The Wizard of Oz at Sphere — the latest immersive “Sphere Experience” in Las Vegas — has sold more than 1 million tickets and generated more than $130 million in sales since its Aug. 28 premiere, according to Sphere Entertainment Co.

The high-tech production, which reimagines the 1939 classic through Sphere’s state-of-the-art visuals, sound and motion technologies, marks one of the fastest-selling attractions in the venue’s short history. The experience follows Postcard From Earth, Darren Aronofsky’s original Sphere film that opened the 17,600-capacity venue in September 2023.

Since opening, the Sphere has played host to a number of big name residencies, including rock icons U2, who inaugurated the venue with their U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere run of 40 shows, which combined the band’scatalog with the venue’s tech-driven staging.

Other artists who have played the iconic venue include Eagles, who have added shows into late 2025 and early 2026, leveraging the immersive audiovisual setting, as well as pop legends Backstreet Boys, who are extending the group’s Into the Millennium residency through February 2026. Elsewhere, DJ/producer Illenium is slated for a residency in spring 2026, signaling Sphere’s push into EDM and genre-diverse programming following a blockbuster run by Anyma at the venue. No Doubt also recently secured a residency at the venue beginning in May.

Designed as a fully immersive cinematic journey, The Wizard of Oz at Sphere transports audiences to the world of Dorothy, Oz and the Yellow Brick Road through custom visuals projected across the 160,000-square-foot LED display — the largest in the world — combined with spatial audio and in-seat effects.

Tickets are available now at thesphere.com, with multiple showtimes scheduled daily.

Billboard‘s Live Music Summit will be held in Los Angeles on Nov. 3. For tickets and more information, visit https://www.billboardlivemusicsummit.com/2025/home-launch.
