Smashing Pumpkins‘ Billy Corgan has welcomed a “happy and healthy” third child with wife Chloé Mendel Corgan.

The frontman and wife Chloé welcomed their third child, daughter Juno Corgan, on Tuesday (March 18). They shared the news with People, telling the publication their newborn entered the world in “the wee hours” at their Highland Park home.
“My wife, Chloé is doing well and recovering, and baby Juno is happy, healthy, and nursing with gusto,” Corgan said. “We are so touched by all the kind wishes of support and love, and thank those who helped Chloé and baby have such a safe, and peaceful, home birth.”
“The kids are absolutely thrilled by their new sister, and being 9 (Augustus) and 6 (Philomena) they can’t wait till she’s old enough to play,” he added.
Last month, the rock icon and father of three sat down with NME and opened up about the ongoing conversation about rock being “dead”. The ‘1979’ musician shared that the spirit of rock and roll will live on because it “is always going to be what kids decide to do in a sort of form of hatred or disgust with what they’re seeing.”
He also opened up about performing at Black Sabbath’s forthcoming final gig in Birmingham later this summer.
“It’s going to be magical. There’s so much love out there for Ozzy,” he shared. “It all comes together on this one magical night. It’s what rock’n’roll is supposed to be about. That’s kinda what I was harping about: it’s ultimately a celebration rather than, ‘Let’s talk about what happened in 1972’.”
In other news, The Smashing Pumpkins recently announced details of their huge show at London’s Gunnersbury Park and UK tour in August, as well as a huge run of huge hometown orchestral shows to mark the 30th anniversary of ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness’.
The band will take over the Lyric Opera of Chicago for seven nights in November for ‘A Night Of Mellon Collie And Infinite Sadness’, which will see Corgan and co joined by the venue’s acclaimed house orchestra and chorus for “a completely new, sonic and visual experience”.
The show will be made up of arrangements of the album’s tracks along with orchestral accompaniment, overseen by James Lowe. The shows will run from November 21 to November 30 and tickets go on sale on April 11 – you can get yours here.
