Slayyyter Drops Chaotic ‘Beat Up Chanel$’ as She Teases Sound Evolution

Slayyyter is kicking off a new era — with a fresh record deal and a fiery new single — but she’s not leaving behind the raunchy edge that’s defined her earlier work. On Friday, the pop provocateur dropped “Beat Up Chanel$,” the first taste of what’s to come.

“Sex, money, drugs, chains on my chest, vintage Celine/Diamond grills, champagne bottles, I get for free,” she sings in the entrancing chorus. “I want sex, money, bitches, and the stickiest weed/Fuck him, go into his closet, steal some of his Supreme.”

The video captures Slayyyter wielding a bat and strutting through the desert with a sexy-boy-posse in tow. In one scene, she rocks a white leotard and bunny ears while working out alongside some bald skater boys. Other shots show her shooting a Chanel bag, smoking in front of fireworks, watching a mud fight, and dancing at a rave — all matching the song’s chaotic, hyperpop energy.

“’Beat Up Chanel$’ marks a new start for me. There is something about it that feels nostalgic, like the indie electronic music I would rinse on my iPod as a teen,” she said in a press release. “It’s an evolution of my sound and where my head is at creatively for the future. Drunk high school nights in parking lots, hanging at the skate park watching the boys, longing for designer items I couldn’t afford, partying in motels in St. Louis when the bars would close, dying my hair purple.”

She adds: “As a 28-year-old I think back to these times of my life and feel like they mirror everything current. I think the contrast between dirt, muddiness, distortion, and grit with soft and euphoric release is what my music is all about.”

Earlier on Friday, Variety revealed that Slayyyter had officially signed with Barry Weiss’ joint venture label, Records, in partnership with Columbia Records. “They understand my vision fully, and I’m excited for people to see everything we’ve been working on,” Slayyyter said. “It feels nice to have found a new home for my music.”
