Shakira has won her latest Grammy award, and she dedicated it to her “immigrant brothers and sisters”.
Last night (February 2), the pop star clinched her fourth Grammy award in her decades-long career – this time, for Best Latin Pop Album with 2024’s ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’. During the ceremony, she also performed her 1998 hit ‘Ojos Así’ and her 2023 single ‘Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’, a collaboration with Argentinian producer Bizarrap.
Shakira began her speech by dedicating the win to “all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country”.
“You’re loved, you’re worth it, and I will always fight with you,” she stated. “To all of those women who work really hard everyday to provide for their families, you are the true she-wolfs.”
Since taking office, the Trump administration has acted swiftly on immigration in the country, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reporting a record 956 people arrested on January 26 alone.

Early in the ceremony, comedian and host Trevor Noah made a joke about “illegal immigrants” that has since been criticised on social media – and which received an on-camera reaction from Doechii, who later won Best Rap Album.
Last week (January 27), Selena Gomez shared an Instagram story reacting to news of the ICE arrests. “I just wanted to say that I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked,” she said, tearing up.
“The children, I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do, I’ll try everything I promise”.
This year, Noah returned to host the Grammys for the fifth consecutive year as Beyoncé led the way with 11 nominations, making her the most nominated artist in the awards’ history – she won the biggest award of the night, Album Of The Year, for ‘Cowboy Carter’ marking her first win in the category.
Kendrick Lamar walked away as the biggest winner of the night, clinching five awards including Record of The Year and Song Of The Year for ‘Not Like Us’. He also took home the Grammys for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for ‘Not Like Us’, which has also won Best Music Video. See the full list of winners here.
