Shaboozey celebrates reaching one billion Spotify streams: “It’s a Christmas miracle”

Shaboozey has become the latest musician to join Spotify‘s Billions Club with his track ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’.

The American singer and producer took to his official Instagram account to share the accolade with a photo of himself in a white outfit and white fur hat – similar to the get-up he wore while performing alongside Beyoncé during her Christmas-day halftime show on his Instagram stories.

“A billion streams + Beyoncé bowl on the same day. It’s a Christmas miracle,” he wrote in a caption on his post. He also shared a photo of the billions club photo from Spotify with a caption that read: “Best Christmas gift ever @spotify”.

‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ is currently tied with Gabby Barrett’s hit ‘I Hope’ – which topped the chart back in 2020 – for the longest Number One on the US Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart of this decade, with a total of 27 weeks on the top of the chart.

According to Luminate, Shaboozey’s hit has been streamed 17.5 million times with 63.8 million airplay audience impressions since May. Back in November, the track was tied with Lil Nas X‘s ‘Old Town Road’ for most weeks at the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart after spending a total of 19 weeks at Number One.

‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ was nominated for Song Of The Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards – which is set to take place on February 2 2025 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. Shaboozey himself has also been nominated for Best New Artist.

On Wednesday (December 25), Shaboozey appeared alongside Beyoncé for her headlining NFL’s Christmas-day game Halftime Show in her hometown of Houston, Texas. There, the two performed ‘Spaghettii/Riiverdance/Sweet Honey Buckiin’.

In other news, ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ landed the 35th spot on NME‘s 50 Best Songs of 2024 List, with the entry reading: “The brilliance of Shaboozey’s record-breaking ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ lies in its Zach Bryan-esque simplicity, combined with an ingenious, genre-blending J-Kwon interpolation and just good ol’ fun. Country purists might complain about not being able to two-step to this, but we say keep the drinks coming.”
