SG Lewis announces new album ‘Anemoia’ and shares US tour dates

SG Lewis has announced that his third studio album, ‘Anemoia’, is set for release on September 5 – pre-order it here.

The producer and songwriter is releasing ‘Anemoia’ on his own Forever Days label, and it follows his 2021 debut ‘Times’ and ‘AudioLust & HigherLove’, released two years later.

The definition of the word ‘anemoia’ is nostalgia for a time you haven’t personally experienced, and the album is set to explore Lewis’ passion for previous eras of dance music, drawing from early trance and Balearic house and the electronica of the 2000s as well as contemporary pop.

“When I discovered the word ‘Anemoia’, it articulated a feeling I’d struggled to describe for so long – a nostalgia for times I never lived through,” Lewis said.

“Throughout my career, I’ve often referenced past eras of music, studying them inside out to understand their cultural and technical history. In doing so, I started to question my emotional connection to those times, and why they left such a mark on me.”

He added: “This album is rooted in the dancefloor, and even its quieter moments are shaped by Balearic sounds that are influenced from spending a lot of time in Ibiza last summer. I think a lot of the music carries an undertone of melancholy, even when it feels high in energy. More than anything, I want ‘Anemoia’ to be a soundtrack to living in the present – to creating the kind of moments that others might one day feel nostalgic for.”

Last month, Lewis released the single ‘Back Of My Mind’, which premiered as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record. Offering a more introspective direction, it reflected the year Lewis spent working at his studio in London after years of travel.

Last July, meanwhile, he released the EP Heat in collaboration with Tove Lo – two years after he worked on Lo’s 2022 album Dirt Femme. Lo told NME: “Obviously we loved working together, so it was a very natural sort of progression. But it was also because our mutual fans were like: ‘Why isn’t there more? We need more of you guys together – give us more to dance to!’”

Both Lewis and Lo appeared together on Nelly Furtado’s single ‘Love Bites’ last year, too, while he also worked with Shygirl, Chloe Caillet, Chloe Bailey and Rauw Alejandro in 2024.

Alongside the album announcement, Lewis has shared a run of headline tour dates in the US and Canada, too, and you can find tickets here. Across September and October this autumn, he’ll be taking in cities including New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston, with Sofia Kourtesis supporting. UK and European dates are set to be announced in due course.

NME gave Lewis’ most recent album, ‘AudioLust & HigherLove’, a four-star review, writing: “A turbo-charged second album is more ambitious and impressive than anything the producer and songwriter has made before,” and, “Album two demonstrates Lewis’ growing confidence as a frontman in the spotlight – long may it continue.”
