Today (March 5), SEVENTEEN’s Wonwoo and his label Pledis Entertainment issued a statement on Weverse announcing the K-pop idol’s upcoming military enlistment. “We would like to share the news that Wonwoo of SEVENTEEN will be starting his mandatory military service from April 3 this year,” it read.

As a result, the K-pop star will miss out on the boyband’s headlining set at Mexico’s Tecate Pa’l Norte music festival and their fanmeeting in Japan, both of which take place after his enlistment. However, Wonwoo will continue to appear at the upcoming ‘CARATLAND’ fanmeeting in Seoul later this month and in select pre-recorded content.

“There will be no official event on the day of his enlistment, and we kindly request that you refrain from visiting the site of his alternative military service,” Pledis Entertainment added. “We ask for your continued love and support for the artist until his safe and healthy return. We will also stay committed to providing Wonwoo with all the necessary support during this time.”

Wonwoo will be second member of SEVENTEEN to enlist, following Jeonghan who began his service in September 2024. Other members of the boyband expected to enlist by the end of the year include Hoshi and Woozi, both of whom are currently gearing up to debut as a new sub-unit.

In January, Hoshi also released new music with separate SEVENTEEN sub-unit BSS, completed by Seungkwan and DK, via the single album ‘Teleparty’. It included title track ‘CBZ (Prime Time)’ and marked the trio’s first comeback since they released ‘Second Wind’ in early 2023.
