“This is so cool, I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, so I’m a little shaky,” singer says of NPR Music set
Billie Eilish’s long-awaited Tiny Desk concert has arrived as NPR Music shared the singer’s stripped-down cubicle performance on Thursday.
“Wow. This is nerve-wracking,” Eilish told lucky NPR employees between songs. “Tiny Desk. This is so cool, I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, so I’m a little shaky. I’m really excited to be here.”
Joined by brother Finneas and a small backing band, Eilish delivered renditions of three Hit Me Hard and Soft songs — “The Greatest,” “L’Amour de Ma Vie,” and a set-closing take on her hit “Birds of a Feather” — plus “I Love You” off her 2019 debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
“We’re gonna do an old one,” Eilish said before “I Love You.” “This is one of our favorite songs that we’ve written… The first time I fell in love, it was very scary, and it’s funny how that fear never goes away, the feeling of falling of whatever.”
Before the acoustic take on “Birds of a Feather,” Eilish acknowledged how the single just went Number One. The song, released in July, was one of the summer’s top tracks and has received 2025 Grammy nominations for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Hit Me Hard and Soft, and its tracks, has earned a total of seven Grammy nods, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
