The screamo project ‘Taylor Swift’, launched by Ogbert The Nerd’s Madison James, has returned to Bandcamp.
Last year, the New Jersey emo band Ogbert The Nerd secured the Bandcamp domain name for the pop megastar and posted a single, blistering screamo track named ‘Taylor Swift 1’.
Announcing the enterprising project, James took to X last April to say: “Ok, secured the URL, who’s starting a screamo band with me”.
Before long, however, the page disappeared from Bandcamp, but now, 18 months later, James tweeted again. “Fellas….we got it back,” he said.

Since then, a seven-track release has been posted to the page, with each song clocking in at under 80 seconds. Check out the relentlessly brutal noise rock from Taylor Swift here:
The other Taylor Swift, meanwhile, released her 12th studio album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ last month, scoring her 15th US Number One and breaking Adele’s long-held streaming-era record for first-week sales.
Despite its huge commercial success, it has not been met with universal acclaim from the huge Swift fanbase, with some hailing it as the return of “pop perfection”, but others declaring it “the worst Taylor Swift album yet” and “boring and basic”.
Swift has addressed some of the negative feedback she has received, telling Apple Music: “I welcome the chaos. The rule of show business is if it’s the first week of my album release, and you are saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping.”
NME gave ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ three stars, writing: “To seek escapism is not a sin, but the best pop music makes the personal feel like life or death. ‘Speak Now’, ‘Reputation’, ‘Folklore’: her greatest works could be genuinely transformative. For the first time, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ sees Swift not catalysed into artistic growth by love, but merely comfortably secured by it.”
Swift also recently donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe campaign of a young fan who is battling brain cancer, with the message: “Sending the biggest hug to my friend, Lilah! Love, Taylor.”
