The joint track, which scooped song of the year at the BRIT Awards on Feb. 28, first hit the top spot Feb. 20. It enjoyed a record-breaking rise, remaining in the top 40 for 35 weeks before finally reaching No. 1.

“Rein Me In” initially featured on Fender’s Mercury Prize-winning People Watching album, released in February 2025. Four months later, Dean joined the North Shields-born artist at London Stadium for a spritely live rendition, shortly before a studio version was released. The song went on to become Fender’s first No. 1 hit and Dean’s second chart-topper.

Alongside scooping song of the year, Fender also triumphed in the best alternative/rock act category at The BRITs, which took place at Manchester’s Co-op Live. Dean, meanwhile, had a hugely successful night, taking home awards for artist of the year, pop act, and album of the year for her second full-length, The Art of Loving.

Elsewhere, breakthrough U.S. artist Bella Kay storms to No. 2 with viral smash “iloveitiloveitiloveit,” up two spots from Feb. 28. It marks the singer’s third release to date.

Alex Warren, who broke U.K. Chart records last year with megahit “Ordinary,” follows at No. 3 with “Fever Dream.” He’ll head to the U.K. and Ireland in April as part of his ongoing Little Orphan Alex Live Tour.

PinkPantheress’ “Stateside” remix with Zara Larsson holds strong at No. 4, while another Dean single, “It’s So Easy (To Fall In Love),” rounds out the top five.

Other notable movements include Harry Styles’ previous chart-topper “Aperture,” which hops up six spots after a dazzling BRITs performance and the arrival of brand new LP Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally Friday (March 6). It’s another top 20 for RAYE, meanwhile, with “Nightingale Lane”; she also appeared at the Feb. 28 ceremony.

The week’s biggest surprise is a return from pop icon Madonna, as her 1985 chart-topping hit “Into the Groove” reappears on the chart for the first time in more than four decades. The resurgence was sparked by viral online videos featuring the internet personality Gymskin dancing to the track.
