Ryan Castro and Feid’s ‘Mentira’ & More: Vote for the Best New Latin Music Release This Week

Colombian reggaetón stars Feid and Ryan Castro dropped “Mentira,” their third collaboration, on Thursday (Aug. 6). The track arrives after they released “Monastery” in 2021, and “Ritmo de Medallo” in celebration of their hometown, Medellín, Colombia, in 2023. “Mentira” is not only another release for the duo, but also marks a new chapter in Castro’s career, as it is the first single from his upcoming album.

On “Mentira,” a melancholic reggaetón track, the artists explore the mixed signals and lack of trust that can arise in a relationship without clear communication — the uncertainty, dishonesty and games that can ultimately lead couples to split. “Fue el ego que a los dos nos confundió/ Navegando este barco se hundió, ” Feid sings, which in English translates to, “It was our egos that confused us both/ Navigating this ship, it sank.” Castro adds: “Mentira, todo era mentira/ Tú tenías tu guardao’ mientras yo estaba de gira.” (In English: “Lie, it was all a lie/ You had your secrets while I was on tour.”)

Meanwhile, artists such as Ozuna and Omar Courtz, Luis Fonsi, Baby Rasta y Gringo and De la Rose have also dropped new music this week.

The New Music Latin poll (published on July 31) was topped by Erick Brian, Dale Pututi and Nesty with their song “Efímero,” which earned more than 81% of the vote. Which release this week do you think is the best? Give these new releases a spin and vote for your favorite new Latin music release below.

Editor’s Note: The results of the weekly New Music Latin poll will be posted if the poll generates more than 1,000 votes. This poll closes at 11 a.m. ET on Monday, Aug. 10.
