Rolling Stone and Sonesta’s Musicians on Musicians Events Come to New York

This summer, exclusive Sonesta Travel Pass members and industry insiders had the privilege of seeing some of their favorite artists on an intimate stage thanks to the Rolling Stone and Sonesta International Hotels partnership that launched the satellite Musicians on Musicians events.

Musicians on Musicians is a Rolling Stone’s premier editorial franchise that pairs artists across genres and generations to interview each other about life, music, and everything in between. In 2023 Rolling Stone brought Musicians on Musicians off the pages and onto the stage for its inaugural live event. Sonesta’s ability to make each experience unique and memorable lent itself to a relevant and cohesive  partnership with Rolling Stone to then bring the franchise ‘on tour’ exclusively for Sonesta Travel Pass Members.

Each event was held at a beautiful Sonesta International Hotels property, with its carefully tailor-made décor and guest experiences, and showcased musicians that are celebrated BOTH locally and internationally.

The first stop was in July at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Downtown, overlooking the Chicago river. Local legends, Common and Noname, were introduced to the stage by Chicago native and Rolling Stone Senior News Editor Althea Legaspi. Their conversation flowed as they spoke about their introductions to rap and R’n’B, the generational similarities and differences, and how music has shaped their creativity. Noname played an intimate set before Common surprised everyone with a closing act. The event set the tone for the next installment which happened the following month in Miami.

Nautilus Sonesta Miami Beach was next to transform for a special night of ‘Musicians on Musicians’, with a beautifully branded vintage Pontiac GTO greeting guests upon entry. Inside, the Miami Travel Pass members and guests sipped on cocktails while they waited excitedly for Juanes and Goyo. Rolling Stone Deputy Music Editor Julyssa Lopez introduced the Colombian musicians on stage and they shared how they balance their careers with family, their path to becoming solo artists and what it means to be at different points in their respective careers.

Goyo then took the stage and performed for the small and lively crowd, her band livening the Bridge Room at the Nautilus Sonesta, to wrap up another successful satellite Musicians on Musicians event. For Sonesta Travel Pass members, this was a special evening that brought them closer to their favorite musicians through conversation and music.
