Robyn says she hated Elon Musk “way before it was cool”

Robyn has said she hated Elon Musk “way before it was cool”.

The Swedish popstar made the remarks while appearing on the Las Culturistas podcast, where she participated in their hot-take segment “I Don’t Think So Honey”.

Speaking about Musk, Robyn commented: “I always hated him, way before it was cool to hate him… because there was a time where [it] wasn’t cool to hate him”.

She went on to recall the moment she begun to detest the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, adding that “for me, I started hating him when he put a Tesla into space with a David Bowie song on it. He actually shot a car into space, as if there wasn’t enough shit floating around”.

Robyn continued: “I think there should be democracy in space. There should be democracy on Earth, too, yes, which we maybe don’t even have at the moment. But the fact that any commercial company can decide what to do with natural resources and also do tacky things, like sending a stupid fucking car into space that’s also dangerous for people — think about the astronauts that are up there in the International Space Station and they don’t really know what’s going to hit them or whatever.”

Robyn is set to release her first new album in eight years, ‘Sexistential’. Her ninth studio LP will land on March 27 via Young.

So far, Robyn has released the lead single ‘Dopamine‘, along with the album’s title track and ‘Talk To Me’.

Speaking about the record, Robyn said that “exploring my sensual life is the same feeling as when I make a good song.

“It’s such a beautiful kind of sensitive vibration that takes so much work to keep afloat. I feel like the purpose of my life is to stay horny – it doesn’t even have to be about sex, but it’s feeling sensual and attracted to things that I enjoy, and not letting anything take over that,” she added.

You can pre-save/pre-order the album here.

We last spoke to Robyn in 2018, where she spoke about her album ‘Honey’ and the grief present in its lead single ‘Missing U’.

“I went through a break-up, my friend died, and this song took on those meanings,” she told us. “It took a really long time for me to finish it, and I think it was because I wanted to find a depth. Both in my music, and personally, that I wasn’t really in touch with.
It takes a courage to dig deeper, and I knew I had some digging work to do.”

Then, we gave ‘Honey’ a four-star review, writing: “This may not be Robyn’s huge, chart-conquering return – but really, from such a trail-blazing artist, did you really expect anything other than a subversion of expectations?”
