Robbie Williams’ ‘BRITPOP’ album will now be released in 2026 due to “scheduling issues”.
The upcoming album from Williams is set to be his first in nearly a decade, and was announced back in May. The original release date was scheduled to be October 10, however a new update today (September 17) confirmed that this has been pushed back until February 6 2026.
Fans who pre-ordered the album were notified in a new email from the singer’s team, with a message that read: “Due to scheduling changes ‘BRITPOP’ will now be released on February 6 2026. Your order will be dispatched in line with the new release date. Apologies for any inconvenience caused, we promise it will be worth the wait.”
The webstore has also been updated to reflect the new release date.

It hasn’t been shared what the exact “scheduling changes” are, however, some people online have noticed how the original date of release happened to fall close to another huge album on the way – Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.
The upcoming 12th studio album from the US pop star was announced just last month, and is set to be shared on October 3. Given the huge popularity of the singer, it is likely that the record will debut at the top spot on the albums charts, and probably remain there for some weeks afterwards.
Speculating on X/Twitter, one fan noted how the delay could be related to the charts, as reaching the Number One spot with ‘BRITPOP’ would mark a huge milestone for Robbie Williams.
“Robbie Williams’ BRITPOP has been delayed from October 9th to February 6th 2026. Likely to avoid clashing with Taylor Swift,” they wrote. “And to secure his 16th #1 UK Album, which would allow him to overtake The Beatles as the biggest UK Artist in history.”
Others on social media have noticed how some artists have pushed back releases lately due to issues with pressing vinyl, and demand potentially not being met in time due to the backlogs.

Last month, Williams hosted an exclusive playback of his upcoming 13th solo studio album at central London’s infamous Groucho Club, and took part in an interview with comedian Joe Lycett.
At the event, he not only announced his “smallest-ever ticketed gig” at Camden’s Dingwalls – where he’ll be playing ‘Britpop’ in full next month alongside his classic ‘Life Thru A Lens‘ – he also revealed the album’s star-packed list of collaborators and shared details of a new song about Morrissey.
He said that his former Take That bandmate Gary Barlow co-wrote the new song ‘Morrissey’, and it was all about a stalker for the former Smiths frontman.
Also featured on the album are Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi (who appears on previously released first single ‘Rocket’), “a couple of songs” with Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, and one with Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
Speaking to NME about the record back in May, Williams opened up about his new guitar-driven sound. “I was playing it safe and I’ve not been driving my own car. I’ve not had my hands on the wheel through second-thinking myself and guessing what people like. I just wanted to do something that I like,” he said.
He also opened up about his thoughts on Soft Play, saying: “These lads appeal to the 14-year-old version of me that wanted to rage hard, be cool, shout, be aggressive in a kind way.
“There is a bit of a love-fest. I don’t get to hang out with them as much as I would like to. Hopefully they’ll come and join me on tour for a little bit.” Check out the full interview here.
