Richard Russell launches new Everything Is Recorded compilation ‘Temporary’ with ‘Losing You’ featuring Sampha, Laura Groves, Jah Wobble and Yazz Ahmed

Richard Russell has announced ‘Temporary’, the new album from his collaborative music project Everything Is Recorded.

It marks the third album from Everything Is Recorded, and will be released on February 28 next year via XL Recordings. Pre-order here.

‘Temporary’ was created over the span of four years and features a host of collaborators, including Bill Callahan, Noah Cyrus, Florence Welch, Maddy Prior, Berwyn, Alabaster Deplume, Jah Wobble, Kamasi Washington, Rickey Washington, Roses Gabor, Jack Peňate, Samantha Morton, Clari Freeman-Taylor, Nourished By Time and more.

Alongside the album announcement, Everything Is Recorded has shared a new single ‘Losing You’, featuring Sampha, Laura Groves and British-Bahraini composer and trumpeter Yazz Ahmed. The soul-imbued track comes with an Ed Morris-directed music video that sees the musicians perform in the back of a black cab while driving through London at night. Check it out below.

Per a press release, the record sees Russell swap rhythm and melody, while experimenting with an eclectic mix of genres, asking: “what if folk music had ‘gone digital’ in the ’80s, just as reggae had?”

Lyrically, the album focuses on grief and loss, with Russell saying: “Makingricri the album was joyous, a way of hallowing life.”

Everything Is Recorded has previously released ‘Friday Forever’, which featured the likes of Aitch and Ghostface Killah, in 2020, and their 2018 Mercury Prize-nominated debut ‘Everything Is Recorded By Richard Russell’, which saw collaborations with Damon Albarn, Peter Gabriel and more.
