Last month, the full list of releases for Record Store Day 2025 was revealed, with exclusive vinyl set to drop from the likes of Charli XCX, Fred.. Again, The Cure, Gorillaz, and more.
With Sam Fender confirmed as an RSD ambassador in the UK and Post Malone in the US, the full list of Record Store Day releases also includes Beabadoobee, Rachel Chinouriri, Confidence Man, English Teacher, Lil Uzi Vert, Megan Thee Stallion, MJ Lenderman and Post Malone.
Now, the special vinyl drops are arriving at stores – and in a video by NME, Tolley and Jodie Ward from Banquet Records show viewers a sneak peek of some of the special releases. This includes Taylor Swift’s exclusive 7″ white vinyl of ‘Fortnight’, which was called one of the “most sought-after releases” of the weekend by Ward.
“Record Store Day is a celebration of not only records but also importantly about the shops in which you buy those records,” Tolley says in the video. “There’s hundreds of titles available, only from independent record shops available over the counter only on the Saturday and Sunday. If there’s any remaining stock, they will be available online from Monday evening.”
Over 270 independent record shops across the UK will participate in Record Store Day 2025 – along with thousands more globally.
Record Store Day Ambassador Sam Fender went vinyl shopping at Hackney’s Stranger Than Paradise, picking out five selections. He said he only started going to record stores in its 20s due to its recent resurgence: “It’s the best way of showing support for the artists that you like”.
He spotlighted some seminal releases, including the likes of Nick Drake‘s ‘Pink Moon’ (“Absolute classic”) to Tom Petty‘s ‘Into The Great Wide Open’ (“That album’s a beast”).
In other vinyl-related news, Taylor Swift has landed the biggest-selling new vinyl release of the decade. Swift’s album ‘Midnights’ heads the vinyl charts with 129,000 sales, with her 2024 and 2023 offerings ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department’ and ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version), respectively, also in the running in the top 10.
Also on the list were Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, David Bowie and Tame Impala.
