Ray J arrested after livestreaming an alleged domestic dispute

Ray J has allegedly been arrested following a domestic dispute that was captured on a livestream.

The 44-year-old singer and actor was arrested yesterday (Thursday November 27), when the Los Angeles Police Department received a call claiming that there was a domestic dispute taking place.

Speaking to ABC, police said that the person who called said that there was a possibility that the singer – real name Willie Norwood – was armed. He was then booked at the LAPD’s Van Nuys Station, according to a report from the outlet, and his bail was set at $50,000 (£37,800).

The R&B star has not yet spoken publicly about the incident, and his representatives and legal team have yet to respond to request for comment from outlets including Good Morning America.

Details about what unfolded before the police were called remain vague, although TMZ claims that the singer was livestreaming on Instagram that same day and claimed that he was having “the worst Thanksgiving in the fucking world”.

It also alleges that Ray J grabbed a handgun during the livestream, and also argued with his partner Princess Love Norwood about custody of their children. The two married in 2016, and have filed for divorce four times since then (as per People).

Together, they share two children, aged seven and five.

Ray J is best recognised for his song with Lil’ Kim, ‘Wait A Minute’, as well as singles including 2005’s ‘One Wish’, and the 2008 track ‘Sexy Can I’. He is also the brother of R&B icon, Brandy.

Back in 2022, he defended the decision to get a tattoo of his sister’s face on his leg. “It’s my leg, it’s my sister,” he said. “I love my sister and that was just a symbol of me saying thank you… If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be here. I’m humbled just to have her help me.”
