Ratbag announces new EP ‘kissing under an (almost) full moon’

Ratbag has announced a new EP ‘kissing under an (almost) full moon’. Find all the details below.

So far this year, the recent NME cover star has released singles ‘juliet+juliet‘, ‘king of kingston’ and ‘look what you’re doing to me’, and she’s now revealed they’re taken from her upcoming EP, due for release May 9 (pre-order/pre-save here).

The songs will explore the “beautiful, sexy and dangerous” experience of being a woman, the musician shares in a press release.

“In the last year i’ve started to really feel the growing pains of becoming a woman – of moulding into myself and my sexuality – and falling in love,” she explains. “It’s liberating, but at the same time i’m feeling the world around me becoming more and more terrifying. this EP is about both those things – the love of womanhood and the horrors too.

“I’m finding that being a woman is simultaneously beautiful, sexy and dangerous so i wanted to make 4 tracks that don’t just dance around these concepts, but instead, cut straight through them. the divide of the EP is a slap in the face between the softness and peace of being a woman and the unfortunate reality that i’ve been slowly growing into.”

The ‘kissing under an (almost) full moon’ tracklist is:

Disc One
1. ‘look what you’re doing to me’
2. ‘juliet & juliet’

Disc Two
1. ‘lose her’
2. ‘king of kingston’

Speaking to NME for The Cover earlier this year, Ratbag told us about how Charli XCX‘s ‘Brat‘ had inspired the making of ‘kissing under an (almost) full moon’. “There’s no point faffing around and sugar-coating shit because, at the end of the day, you should be saying how you feel,” she said. “‘Brat’ was just so real, and I fuck with real stuff. I don’t want to tiptoe around anything in my life. I want to say the things that most people are afraid even to think or feel guilty for thinking.”

She also shared how she wants the EP, and her live shows, will provide a place of refuge for fans amid a turbulent period of world history. “I really hope that they feel like my world is just a little bit of an escape for a moment. It’s quite an important thing for me,” she told us. “This current world sucks, and it’s just really nice to be able to step into something else for a bit.”
