Apparently, Carti and the British singer first met around 2014 when 18 years old Playboi was introduced to Twigs by none other than A$AP Rocky. He opened the interview by mentioning that he recently hung with Ojivolta, the production duo who worked on her most recent album Eusexua. “They love you,” Carti said. “I was like, ‘I was freestyling with Twigs back in the day with Rocky in New York when I was 18.’ I was telling him like, ‘[Twigs] always supported me since day one.’ People don’t even know that.”

When she replied that they “always had a good vibe,” he added that Rocky was adamant about introducing them. “When I was coming up with Rocky, he always used to tell me, ‘Yo, Twigs is the one. I got to introduce you to Twigs,’” he continued. “And when I met you, everything he said about you was true. Shorty from the other side of the world. She got me off the bat.”

Twigs then revealed that she used share an apartment in L.A. with Rocky and the late A$AP Yams, and used to throw down in the kitchen for them. “You know Rocky and I used to live together,” she said. “I think it was 2012 or 2013. I used to live with A$AP Yams and Rocky in L.A., and we had an apartment together. I would always cook for them because they would never eat.”

Elsewhere in the interview, they talk about how FKA was discovered on a train platform by photographer Matthew Stone, her album and European rave culture, among other things.

Carti’s I Am Music is set to arrive at midnight on Friday, March 14.
