Peggy Gou taps the “uplifting energy of summer” for infectious single ‘Wo,man’ featuring Ayra Starr

Peggy Gou has teamed up with Ayra Starr on her new summer-ready single ‘Wo,man’ – check it out below.

The South Korean-born, London-based DJ, producer and artist released the track today (June 26) via XL Recordings, marking her latest release since her 2024 debut album ‘I Hear You’.

A typically euphoric summer dancefloor anthem from Gou, ‘Wo,man’ pairs Gou’s restlessly energetic production with a vocal from Nigerian afrobeats artist Starr that includes the earwormy chorus hook of “Adigidang dang dang di dang”.

Check out the video for ‘Wo,man’, directed by Onda, here:

Speaking about the single, Gou said: “When I was working on ‘Wo,man’, I knew I wanted a voice that could match the song’s uplifting energy for summer. The moment I shared it with Ayra, she got it instantly. Bringing our two worlds together felt completely natural, and she brought the perfect balance of sexiness and swag into the record. I hope this record brings fun summer memories to all who love it.”

Starr added: “I love Peggy – she’s such a cool artist. It was so much fun to make this song with her. It felt like such a summer vibe – I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it!”

The collaboration follows a previous creative link-up between the pair, after Gou remixed Starr’s single ‘Where Do We Go’ earlier this year.

To mark the release of ‘Wo,man’, Gou is also opening a pop-up boutique in London, dubbed ‘The Gou,tique’, today for one day and night only. It is located at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes on Kingsland Road in east London from 4pm to 9pm, with free entry on a first-come, first-served basis.

Gou will gift 200 mystery items from her personal collection, alongside 100 items from archival Peggy Gou merchandise lines, while DJs from her Gudu Records roster will soundtrack the event.

Gou is set for a busy summer of live appearances, including a headline show at London’s Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich on August 2.

Earlier this year, Gou also remixed Madonna’s ‘I Feel So Free’, the first preview of Madonna’s upcoming album ‘Confessions II’. She added a ‘90s dance-flavoured touch to the track, built around clattering drums and squelchy synths.

Starr, meanwhile, will be playing at Jorja Smith and Tems’ date of All Points East 2026, alongside the likes of Nia Archives, Elmiene and Kwn.
